While this summer weekend will feature uncharacteristically cooler than normal temperatures, neither Saturday nor Sunday will be all that attractive. A low pressure center off the North Carolina coast will keep mostly cloudy skies and the threat of showers and thunderstorms with us through Sunday evening. The silver lining for those ready to be finished with summer's excessive heat is that temperatures will only rise to the low 80s both today and tomorrow.
As the coastal system moves northeast late tomorrow, warmer and more humid air will arrive for the start of the week; highs both Monday and Tuesday will likely be in the upper 80s. A cold front is expected on Tuesday with the potential for showers once again. A more tranquil pattern will follow for the remainder of the week. The forecast could change, of course, based on the path Tropical Storm Isaac takes as it approaches the U.S. Remnant rain from the storm could certainly be a factor for us later in the week. Enjoy this weekend's cooler air, if not its gray skies!
