A trough of low pressure moving through the region this morning gave us the clouds and showers and drizzle. Skies may brighten by midday. In fact, if we see significant periods of sunshine, it will increase the chance for heavy showers and thunderstorms this afternoon as a cold front approaches. There is a slight risk of severe weather developing later today. Showers and thunderstorms could linger tomorrow. Sunny weather will return on Thursday. By Friday, temperatures will climb into the lower 90s, humidity levels will rise and we will have another round of thunderstorms ahead of the next cold front. And then, noticeably cooler air will arrive just in time for the weekend.
As Chris Naille noted earlier...we are still running a significant, yearly rainfall deficit at Reagan National Airport. We are over 8’ drier-than-average, so any rainfall we do see wil be welcomed.
