High pressure is controlling the local weather pattern and it is spectacular. Mostly clear skies with seasonably warm and dry air highlights our Wednesday forecast. More sunshine is forecast tomorrow and Friday and while temperatures will quickly warm, humidity levels will remain comfortable. On Saturday, it will become more humid as temperatures head to the 90 degree mark. The Sunday and Monday forecast is a little more challenging. that's because of the potential effects of the remnant energy of Hurricane Issac. There is a chance, if that energy moves just the right way, we could see showers and isolated thunderstorms later Sunday and Monday.
As of 8 am, Isaac remains a Category 1 Hurricane with sustained winds at 80mph with gusts to 100mph. The center of Hurricane Isaac was about 45 miles SSW of NOLA. Isaac is creeping NW at 6mph and a general NW motion at this slow speed will continue for some time...as will the torrential rain and battering winds.
