After yet another hot and rather humid day on Friday, cooler air is moving into the area to both refresh us and remind us that fall is not far away. The high at Reagan National yesterday was 94 degrees, the highest reading in the past eight days. But it could be the last of the 90s for the foreseeable future.
The passage of a cold front Friday evening set off some mostly light showers early this morning. The front's northerly winds are gradually bring cooler, drier and somewhat sunnier conditions to the D.C. area.
The high temperatures today, tomorrow and through next week will likely hover only in the low to mid 80s, well below the 87 degree seasonal norm. Those readings, along with the sight of students returning to school, will reinforce the proximity of fall and hold out the hope that most of this summer's intense sizzle may be in the past!
