With low pressure and easterly winds still in place, we have yet another mostly cloudy, warm and humid day with scattered showers and thunderstorms.  Some heavy downpours earlier let to flash flood warnings in Baltimore and souhern Delaware and scattered heavy rain continues to plague the area, especially in St. Mary's, Calvert, Fauquier, Fairfax, Loudoun, Charles, and Anne Arundel counties.  The slow movement of the low to the northeast  and the high humidity are making for an unsettled day with daytime highs likely to be similar to yesterday's 82 degree reading at Reagan National and 79 degree reading at Dulles.  Monday will see some improvement in sky conditions with partial sunshine expected by afternoon, but temperatures will soar to near 90 and humidity levels will remain elevated.  A cold front on Tuesday is likely to usher in slightly drier and cooler air for Wednesday.

NOTE: While yesterday's rain as recorded at Reagan National was rather paltry at 0.06 inches, it was the 16th day this month that some rain fell.  As a consequence, for the first time this year, the monthly tally - 2.47" -  is actually above the norm.  The "surplus" may be a mere 0.07 inches, but if it holds, August will become the only "wetter than normal" month of 2012.  Enjoy your Sunday!
