This last weekend of summer might not make us forget the searing heat of the past three months, but it is trying! If yesterday felt absolutely perfect, it was indeed. The average temperature was 71, becoming only the eighth day this summer when the expected daily average matched reality. After a breezy morning, Saturday calmed down with mostly sunny skies, low humidity and a high of 78. Today will be similarly mild but with filtered sunshine shining through high cirrus clouds. Winds will gradually shift to the south, pointing to the low pressure and showers that are destined to arrive on Monday. Washington can expect a one-two punch of precipitation as a strong cold front arriving from the northwest will then likely bring some heavy rain and thunderstorms to the area on Tuesday. Rainfall tallies could be one to three inches.
High pressure will return at midweek restoring sunny skies through Friday. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
