Right on cue, the seasons have changed. Summer made a valiant last stand on Saturday, but cool northwesterly breezes and Canadian high pressure have announced this morning that fall is here. After soaring to a high of 85° yesterday at Reagan National, making for the warmest day in two weeks, temperatures this morning are in the 50s and low 60s throughout the area. Plummeting too have been the dew points, down 20 degrees from yesterday, thus providing a refreshing break from summer's humidity.
Other than a few clouds today, there will be plenty of sunshine, winds to 15 mph and high temperatures only around 70. With clear skies tonight and decreasing winds, temperatures could drop into the 40s in the city for the first time since back on April 29 when the low was 46. The pattern of cool days and chilly nights will last through Tuesday before a front brings slightly warmer and more humid air, as well as the possibility of rain on Wednesday. Thereafter, autumnal bliss returns for week's end! Enjoy this spectacular day.
