D.C. Weather Forecast: Flash Flood Warning

September 6, 2012 - 08:37 AM
Text size Decrease Increase

Today: Isolated a.m. showers and heavy thunderstorms.

Highs: 88°-94° | Wind: S 2-5

Overnight: Warm and humid with areas of fog

Lows: 68°-75° | Wind: Calm

Tomorrow: Partly cloudy, hot and humid

Highs: 88°-94° | Wind: S 4-8

An elongated area of low pressure runs through the mid- Atlantic and an area of high pressure is centered off the coast of South Carolina. This is why it is so warm and muggy and why temperatures may reach the lower 90s today and tomorrow .It also has set the stage for the showers observed this morning and the isolated thunderstorms that may develop this afternoon. By tomorrow, the trough will no longer be a factor, so we do not expect rain but it will still be hot and humid.

Over the weekend, another cold front will arrive. This will likely produce showers and thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. Skies will clear on Sunday as cooler and drier air arrives. Beautiful weather is forecast for Sunday afternoon, Monday and Tuesday.
