Temperatures are running 15 degrees warmer this morning than yesterday at the same time. This is due to a surge of warm and humid air rushing northward ahead of a storm center and cold front that are approaching from the west and southwest. Showers will spread into the area through the morning but it will be this afternoon when heavier rain and thunderstorms develop. There is a risk of some storms becoming severe. Heavy rain, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes will be possible with the heaviest cells. Watches and warnings may be required. The cold front will sweep through the area late tonight ending the risk of severe weather. A few showers may linger into the early morning hours.
High pressure will build into the region for the next few days, providing beautiful late-summer conditions for the final three days of summer. Fall begins at 10:49 Saturday morning.
