Skies will clear slightly during the overnight hours as temperatures fall into the 50s in the mountains to lower 60s near the District. Clouds will start to increase Monday with scattered showers likely by evening. Highs will approach 80 degrees.
On Tuesday, the Storm Prediction Center has most of the East Coast, including the mid-Atlantic under a slight risk for severe storms. A strong cold front will quickly speed toward the coast, however, the D.C. area will be in the warm sector allowing for damaging winds and heavy downpours to develop during the afternoon and evening hours. The cold front should clear the region by early Wednesday morning.
