D.C. Weather Forecast: Lingering Remnants of Sandy Keep us Cloudy and Cool

Cloudy and Cool, but staying dry for Trick-or-Treat.

This Afternoon: Mostly Cloudy

Highs: Low to Mid 50s | Wind: SSW 5-10


Lows: Upper 30s to Lower 40s | Wind: W 5-10

The remant of Sandy is slowly loosening its grip on our area.  Clouds are persistent and tough to break.  Some drier air is settling in and peeks of sun will be expected this afternoon,.  But, just as likely we could see a quick sprinkle or light shower.  Overall, it will be mostly cloudy and dry today.  We now know that Sandy broke several records.  Including record storm surge for Battery Park, NY.  Sandy had the 2nd Largest windfield recorded with tropical storm force winds extending 580 miles from the center of the storm.  And, Sandy was the most intense hurricane to make landfall north of Cape Hatteras with a central pressure of 940mb. 

Around here: Temperatures will be unseasonably cool and our upper air pattern will keep us that way through the next 7  days.  The average High today is 64.  Trick-or-Treaters can expect a calm and dry evening with sunset at 6:08p.m.  Temps this evening in the upper 40s to around 50 degrees.
