The Potomac will be cresting late tonight and early tomorrow morning at downtown locations. The water level will reach about 8 feet. For up-to-date river data, including crest heights and times, check out this great interactive tool here.
The atmosphere is settling down in the wake of Sandy. Satellite and radar images still show an enormous circulation pattern but it is slowly weakening and moving northward. An area of low pressure continues along the east coast as an area of high pressure will start building into our region from the southwest. This pattern will allow for slow but steady clearing over the next few days. We will see more sunshine and slightly milder conditions but temperatures are forecast to remain below average for at least the next 7 days.
