High pressure continues to dominate weather conditions throughout the mid-Atlantic and beyond. As it settles just south of the region, temperatures will rise to significantly above average levels. In fact, we are forecasting high temperatures around 80 degrees tomorrow and Wednesday. Temperatures will reach the middle 70s on Thursday and Friday. While we will not be in high temperature record territory this week, it will be a week to remember knowing that much, much cooler air will return to the area by Sunday or Monday/ Dry weather is forecast through Friday. But over the weekend, changes will begin. A strong area of atmospheric low pressure will be developing over southern Canada and start moving our way. This system will be reinforced by several upper level impulses that will deliver the much cooler air and increase the chances of rain late Saturday and Sunday.
A new Tropical Storm is in the process of forming in the Caribbean south of Jamaica. It will be named Sandy and may affect Cuba and the Bahamas. Computer models are all over the place regarding the strength and movement of the system as we approach the weekend. We will keep a close eye on its development and course.
