A mixed bag of weather today with clouds, sunshine and a few sprinkles possible. In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, we are left with a trough in the upper atmosphere above us. This is allowing for more clouds than sun and cooler temperatures. Until the jetstream shifts, our weather will be rather stagnant. Winds will flow in from the West Northwest, ushering in the cooler Canadian air. Expect more sunshine by this weekend, but no big budges in the temperatures. Our high today should reach the mid 50s. That's about 10 degrees below average. The days continue to get shorter, but we do gain an extra hour of sleep this weekend. Don't forget to set your clocks back by one hour before you go to bed on Saturday night. Also, it's a good idea to check the batteries in your smoke detector, weather radio and flashlights.
