It took most of the day, but clearing skies have chased much of the cloud cover eastward. Off the North Carolina coast, an area of low pressure continues to spin but will eventually head towards the North Atlantic. In the meantime, it will keep the coast Delmarva rather cloudy and breezy. The storm system will also batter the NC coastline with heavy surf and high breaking waves. Across our area, the weather news is pretty good. Partly cloudy skies will continue tonight and tomorrow. Highs will reach the middle 50s tomorrow and the upper 50s on Wednesday under mostly sunny skies. Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, is often referred to as the busiest travel day of the year and weather patterns should be favorable for all modes of travel across the country. The only exception is the Pacific Northwest where a coastal storm will bring strong winds, rain and high elevation snow. Thanksgiving Day in our area will be sunny and milder with highs reaching the 60 degree mark. And Friday will still be mild with highs again near 60 degrees. There will be some increase in cloudiness, though, because of the approach of the next cold front and attendant area of low pressure.
