A blustery day is on tap with a High Wind Advisory in effect until 5 p.m. this afternoon. Sustained winds in the 20-30 mph range and gusts as high as 50 mph are making for a challenging day. Toppled trees and power outages are possibilities; drivers of high profile vehicles should exercise caution.
The close proximity of a low pressure system to our north, the one bringing wintry weather to areas as nearby as Western Maryland, and high pressure to our south is setting up the strong wind gradient. As the storm moves offshore tonight and high pressure builds into our area, Sunday promises to be a much calmer day and not as cold. Wind chill values today will be in the 20s and 30s although the actual high will likely be in the low to mid 40s. Sunday should feel more comfortable as winds shift to the southwest at just 5 to10 mph and the mercury rises to the upper 40s. Batten down the hatches, bundle up and enjoy your Saturday!
