With Christmas just 10 days away, it is not looking or feeling quite like it should. With weekend high temperatures likely topping out in the low 50s, this month will continue its much warmer than normal trend - to date, the average is almost seven degrees warmer. There has been just a single day this month when the daily average was colder than normal.
Increasing cloudiness today will signal the retreat of high pressure and the advent of a low from the midwest. A warm front is expected to stall over the D.C. area on Sunday, setting up a series of days when showers will threaten. Temperatures will continue to be seasonably mild through the period as the rain ends on Tuesday and sunnier skies return for the end of the work week. Chillier nighttime temperatures to the far west could lead to some upslope snow showers, but for us, any precipitation early in the week will stay unfrozen and not at all in the Christmas spirit! Still, any rain will be a much appreciated holiday gift as we continue to run a 9-inch rainfall deficit. Enjoy your weekend!
