Clouds will increase during the overnight hours as temperatures settle to the upper 20s to lower 30s. Monday will see mostly cloudy skies as an area of low pressure approaches from the southwest. A wintry mix is likely during the late morning and early afternoon hours before changing to light rain by Christmas Eve. No accumulation is expected.
High pressure will briefly build Christmas Day followed by a more potent storm on Wednesday. At this point, guidance indicates this will be mainly a rain event for the D.C. area with as much as one to two inches of liquid precipitation. Higher elevations to the west may see some snow. Skies will clear on Thursday with gusty winds.
