A warm front is located just to the north and northeast of Washington. That's not a good location if you are looking for sunshine in December. Dense fog reported earlier is slowly lifting but skies will remain cloudy all day. Temperatures may be a pleasant surprise for you this morning. In fact, even without any sunshine, temperatures will slowly rise through the 50s. Showers are likely later today and tonight as an area of low pressure develops. Showers will end tomorrow morning. Skies will become partly sunny through the day. Building high pressure will cause breezy conditions but it will be a mild breeze as temperatures remain well above averge.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny and very mild. Thursday will remain very mild with temperatures still in the 50s. But clouds will return during the day and showers will likely develop by evening as a strong cold front approaches the area. Behind the front, on Friday, it will be partly cloudy, breezy and much cooler with highs only in the middle 40s.
