A breezy and mild day ahead.

Today: Partly cloudy, breezy and mild. Sprinkles possible
Highs: 54°-59°
Wind: WNW 10-20+ mph

Overnight: Clear and cold
Lows: 32°-38°
Wind: W 4-8

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny and still quite mild
Highs: 50°-55°
Wind: WNW 10-20 mph

As high pressure builds into the area today, skies will gradually clear and gusty winds will develop. Temperatures will remain well above average and there could be a few sprinkles later this morning. We expect a lot of sunshine this afternoon and clear skies tonight. Tomorrow will be sunny and mild. And mild temperatures will continue into Thursday. But during the day Thursday, in advance of the next storm system and cold front, rain will develop during the afternoon.By Friday, a cold and blustery air mass will arrive with strong wind gusts, much colder temperatures and maybe a few flurries in higher elevations well north and west of Washington.

The weekend is looking pretty good in our extended forecast. We are calling for partly cloudy and seasonably cold conditions. High temperatures will be in the middle 40s on Saturday and Sunday.

Looking ahead to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, our current outlook calls for partly to mostly sunny skies with highs around 40 to the lower 40s. We will refine that forecast as Christmas approaches.
