An area of low pressure will move towards the area today from the southwest increasing clouds to the region with highs in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Tonight, snow showers will develop after midnight and continue through tomorrow around lunch time as the system moves over the area. Snowfall totals should range to no snow over Southern Maryland, to 1 to 2 inches around the D.C. Metro, to 2 to 4 inches in the Advisory areas. Snow may mix with some rain as well in the D.C. Metro and points south and east so this may help keep snow totals lower.
- Snow Potential for the D.C. area
After the snow and rain end, expect cloudy skies with highs in the upper 30s. Sunday will be breezy and cold for the skins game with temperatures in the upper 30s under partly cloudy skies. Looking ahead to New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, sunny skies should be expected with highs around 40 degrees. A few snow showers will be possible on New Year’s Day with highs again around 40 degrees.
