As of right now,  January and the winter are about 6° above average.  Dramatic changes sweeping in tonight as an arctic cold front sweeps across the region in the next few hours.  Not only will tomorow be much colder, but with strong winds, the wind chills will be in the single digits in many areas.  Here's an explainer of the arctic blast and frigid wind chills:

This bitter cold will be with us through Wednesday.  By late in the week, a fast moving storm will form to our west but the track may be just to our north and if that happens, as cold as it will be, Friday could be more the dreaded "wintery mix" rather than just snow.  We'll keep you posted.  Right now sure does not look like a big snowstorm.  Just big cold Tuesday and Wednesday.
