Much to the disappointment of snow lovers, the weak storm that was expected yesterday stayed just far enough south and east of D.C. that we got a whole lot of nothing. Who actually got the snow? Here's a look at just how close it came to the area.

Moving forward, we have pleasant weather through the weekend before an arctic blast arrives for early next week. High pressure is building in today, bringing in cold air from the northwest. It is a bit breezy, but winds should diminish this afternoon. The cold air is coming at us from the Great Lakes and there are even a few lake effect snow showers popping up early this morning, but that should go away this afternoon, too. A brief warm up for the weekend with highs in the upper 40s to near 50 degrees, but arctic air starts moving in on Monday with bitter cold Tuesday and Wednesday. There may even be a few flurries on Monday for inaugeration day/MLK Day. Enjoy the sun.
