D.C. weather forecast: mild this weekend but much colder next week
Saturday: Sunny, Breezy & Mild
Highs: 49°-54° | Wind: SW 8-15 mph
Tonight: Mainly Clear
Lows: 31°-37° | Wind: S 5-13 mph
Sunday: Mostly Sunny
Highs: Near 50° | Wind: S 5-13 mph
Don't get used to the mild air over the weekend as an arctic blast is headed our way by early next week. Expect plenty of sunshine today and tomorrow with highs in the low 50s then near 50° on Sunday. A cold front will hit the Washington area Sunday morning, but it'll take some time before the core of the cold air arrives.
High temperatures will drop to near 40° on MLK Jr. Day with a few flurries possible, but temperatures will plummet by Tuesday and Wednesday as the coldest air yet this winter arrives. Expect mornings in the teens with afternoon highs in the mid/upper 20s by Tuesday and Wednesday. Actually, a few readings in the single digits are possible northwest of Washington Wednesday morning. Temperatures will moderate a bit by the end of the week but remain below average.
