Low clouds, fog, drizzle and now more rain. Northeast winds keep our temperatures between 40° and 42°. More rain coming as another wave along a front to our south moves near us and then moves off by Wednesday afternoon. Another 0.5"-1" rain is likely with the 1" more likely across southern Maryland and southern suburbs in Virginia. There is a risk of some high spots (about 700 feet and higher) getting some sleet or even a bit of freezing rain but they will be isolated and the winter weather advisory map looks more ominous than what will really happen.
Indeed Ryan Miller generated this map that shows the actual areas in the counties that are above 700 feet.
Be careful in the AM. Finally some sun back late in the week and Monday, Inaguration Day, still looks quite cold with highs in the 30s.
