A week ago today, afternoon temperatures could not rise above the 20s. This afternoon, the mercury zoomed through the 60s to near 70 degrees in places. East to southeast winds are keeping some coastal communities very chilly but what a nice preview of spring we have outside in most areas. Of course, this is not going to last. But it does appear we will enjoy one more unseasonably warm day tomorrow before a strong cold front changes everything. Not only will it be warm, it will be windy tomorrow, too. And by late tomorrow afternoon and evening, heavy rain and thunderstorms are possible as the cold front crosses the Blue Ridge.
Temperatures will turn somewhat colder on Thursday and much colder on Friday. As the below average temperatures push back into town early Friday morning, there is a 30% chance of snow before sunrise. Afternoon temperatures will reach the upper 30s under partly cloudy skies. Saturday will be rather cloudy with temperatures remaining chilly. On Sunday, temperatures should climb close to 40 degrees.
