D.C. weather forecast: Temperatures set to plummet, below freezing highs for consecutive days

Clouds will increase during the overnight hours as the first of two cold fronts marches away from the mid-Atlantic. Temperatures will settle in the upper 20s to lower 30s.

Partly to mostly cloudy skies are in the forecast for Inauguration Day and Martin Luther King Day with temperatures slowly rising into the upper 30s to lower 40s. A stronger cold front is poised to enter the region during the afternoon hours bringing a chance for flurries, but no accumulations.

Temperatures will plummet behind the front with below freezing highs expected Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
