Monday was our 7th day in a row with temperatures below (or at average) for the highs. The high was 44° and at 10 p.m. it is is 44°. Mild air is really trying to come in. Look at this afternoon's AQUA satellite picture. Not too far, south temperatures were in the 50s.
With the moisture from Monday morning's light icing and some evening sprinkles, low moisture will probably keep us cloudy to partly through Tuesday. But Wednesday, a strong cold front will sweep our way and with it even the risk of some thunderstorms late in the day. Tuesday will bring an unusual risk of severe January weather in much of the southeast. We may be in a risk tomorrow for the day on Wednesday. What an end to January.
February starts cold for sure, but a bit of a wild week ahead. Check out our latest blog on the roller coaster ride of temperatures and weather in D.C.
