After some morning clouds, look for a mostly sunny, milder and breezy Sunday with highs in the low 50s.  Monday will be equally sunny, but  just a bit cooler.

This Afternoon: Partly Sunny, Breezy, & Cool

Highs: 50-54 | Wind: NW 15-20/G 30 mph

Tonight: Mostly Clear & Chilly

Lows: 28-33 | Wind: NW 10-15 mph

Monday: Sunny & Cool, Not as Windy

Highs: 45-48 | Wind: NW 5 mph

Today is a vast improvement on Saturday.  With partly sunny skies prevailing, high pressure building in,  temperatures headed for the low 50s, this Sunday is a perfect antidote gloomy and exceptionally chilly days of the past week.  The only factor keeping today from being seasonally balmy is the wind: with gusts from 20 to 30 mph, the wind chill values are in the mid 40s.

Today ends what has been the longest cold stretch of the winter.  For 7 of the last 8 days, the average temperature has been below average.  There has been no comparable period during the past three months.  This recent cold snap has made February anomalous in that unlike December and January which respectively were 5 and 4 degrees above average, this month is almost 2 degrees below.

Look for more sunshine and lighter winds on Monday, but high temperatures a tad cooler than today, and then a rather rainy Tuesday with highs in the upper 40s.  Enjoy your last Sunday of meteorological winter!  This Friday, March 1st, is the beginning of meteorological spring.
