The wintry mix North and West of D.C. is ending, but clouds and a few showers could hang around through early evening.

This Afternoon: Cloudy with Rain ending

Highs: Upper 40s | Precipitation: A few lingering showers 30%

Tonight: Gradual Clearing, windy and cold

Lows: Around 30 | Wind: W 10-20

Wednesday: Mostly Sunny, Windy, and Cold

Highs: Upper 30s | Wind: W 10-20

A wintry mix held off for most of the commute this morning and only lasted for a short while. Streets have been fine as temps stayed above freezing.  The rain held off long enough to catch some beautiful sunrise pictures. Thanks to Glynnis Morgan Dwelly in Leesburg, VA for this stunning shot.

The rain is coming to an end this afternoon with little more than a brief shower/sprinkle through early evening. Skies will gradually clear behind the cold front tonight  and Westerly winds will be howling up to 20mph.  Winds will stay strong Wednesday with much colder temperatures.  Highs will only make it into the upper 30s. But it will feel like temps in the 20s through much of the day.  Think back to Sunday afternoon's weather for comparison.  The rest of the week stays chilly and chances of precipitation return by Friday. The storm will be a big deal in the Midwest. Check out the forecast snowfall for them.

Possible Snowfall Midwest Through Saturday

Right now it looks like rain for us. Still a fair amount of uncertainty on timing and any freezing potential, but snowlovers need to seek out the Midwest for a good one for now.  We'll regularly update our thoughts on that the rest of the week.
