TOMORROW: Brief a.m. wintry mix...then rain and much milder

Sunny and chilly weather today thanks to an area of high pressure covering the mid-Atlantic states. As the high moves out tonight, cloudiness will increase ahead of the next cold front. Moisture will also spread across the region tomorrow morning at a time when surface temperatures will be around freezing. This means we may be dealing with a brief wintry mix in places during tomorrow mornings' commute. Sleet and freezing rain will be possible, especially north and west of Washington. Temperatures will rise above freezing later in the morning. Afternoon temperarures could reach 50 degrees. Colder weather quickly returns tomorrow night behind the cold front.

Sunny, windy and cold weather is back in play for Wednesday and Thursday. The next storm system and cold front could bring more wintry precipitation to parts of the area on Friday. What was Punxsutawney Phil thinking...early spring?
