A Beautiful start to the work week with clouds and wet weather for Tuesday.

This Afternoon: Mostly Sunny

Highs: Near 50 | Wind: N 5-8

Tonight: Partly Cloudy

Lows: Low to Mid 30s | Wind: E 0-5

Tuesday: Cloudy with Afternoon Rain

Highs: Mid 40s | Rain: 80%

Sunshine greets us to kick off the week, but our weather changes pretty quickly as a powerful storm to the southwest of us brings plenty of moisture our way tomorrow.  High pressure gripping our area today keeps it pleasant with a high near 50 degrees.  Clouds will increase slowly tonight and by Tuesday it will be cloudy. Some rain/snow/sleet is possible in the morning, mainly along and west of Interstate 81.  The rain should hold off for the metro until midday.  But, if it arrives early, we can't rule out a few pellets of sleet here, either.  After the noon hour, it should be all rain, and heavy at times. Here's a look at the European Model for Tuesday afternoon:

European Forecast Model Tuesday Afternoon

As much as an inch of rain is possible Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday night.  We could use some moisture as our rainfall deficit is -1.50" for the past two months.  The back end of the system sticks with us through Thursday and keeps us unstable. This back side is going to be much colder,so rain on Thursday could change over to some flurries later in the day. Not expecting any big deal.
