On this last Monday in February, sunshine will be widespread and temperatures will reach the 50 degree mark. Changes are in the wind as cloudiness will increase tonight and rain will arrive Tuesday.
The rainfall could reach one-half inch in parts of the area. But being on the warm side of this storm system means we will see just rain. Any frozen precipitation will likely be confined to areas along and west of Interstate 81.
Warmer air will briefly follow the storm on Wednesday. I should more accurately say the warmer air will follow the development of a new storm center along the east coast...that transition will occur during the day tomorrow.
By Thursday and Friday, our area will be back in a colder, winter weather pattern. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy, temperatures will be somewhat colder and passing sprinkles or showers cannot be ruled out. Flurries and snow showers cannot be ruled out for higher terrain north and west of Washington.
