Another sunny but cold winter day. The mid part of the country is getting hit hard with over a foot of snow and ice from Kansas to Missouri into Illinois. Wichita, KS now at 14" and only a little away from biggest snow storm in 100+ years. The center of the storm will head toward the Great Lakes and weakening moisture from the strom will spread east. The odds just don't favor any big storm here but there will be some slippery areas by the afternoon rush for you folks heading north and west from D.C.
We still have cold, dry air over us. Any of the dreaded "wintry mix" will be light even if some makes it into the D.C. area by Friday noon. A secondary storm will form near us or to the south by late Friday and any precipitation late Friday night into Saturday will be some chilly rain before the sun comes back Sunday.
