Westerly winds are helping to dry us out a bit today after a soggy Tuesday. They are allowing the sunshine to pop out today and the temperatures to warm up briefly. You can see on the visible satellite the low pressure system is offshore now and we are surrounded by clouds elsewhere.

Highs today will reach the mid to upper 50s. Tonight, temperatures will cool back into the 30s in the suburbs to near 40 degrees in the city. Seasonal temperatures will be the story on Thursday with highs around the 50 degree mark. A weak disturbance will track around an upper-level low situated north of D.C. bringing with it the chance for a few sprinkles or even flurries by tomorrow afternoon.
Much cooler weather is anticipated beyond Thursday, with highs in the mid 40s by Friday under partly sunny skies. The weekend looks downright chilly with highs in the low 40s Saturday and upper 30s come Sunday.
