High pressure remains in control today as a strong winter storm affects the central U.S. Sunny skies can be expected along with chilly temperatures and gusty winds. Highs will only reach the upper 30s but winds out of the northwest will make it feel more like the 20s. Tonight clouds will increase as the winter storm to the west approaches. Lows will be cold in the 20s but winds will diminish after sunset.
Friday will feature a dry morning commute but precipitation should begin to fall around lunch time. We are anticipating it will start as snow and sleet, and will continue to fall through the afternoon and evening. Light accumulations will be possible, and though precipitation should be light, there is the chance for some slick spots for the afternoon and evening commute home.
Wintry precipitation will change over to rain late tomorrow evening as warmer air makes it into the area. Rain is expected on Saturday as the low passes to the southeast. Highs Saturday are expected to reach the low 40s. Sunday should see clearing skies and breezy winds behind this system with highs around 50 degrees.
