A complex weather pattern involving two separate areas of low pressure are affecting the weather over a large portion of the central and eastern U.S. In our area, the effects are the threat of heavy rain east of the Blue Ridge and sleet and freezing rain at higher elevations west of the Blue Ridge....hence the Flood Watch and Winter Weather Advisory. One to two inches of rain will be possible across areas under the watch.
- The rain will impact this evening's commute. Minor ice accumulations are possble at elevations above 1,000 feet...more likely though at even higher elevations.
- A nice one-day break is expected tomorrow behind these storm centers. It will be breezy and much warmer with highs well into the 50s. Slightly colder weather will arrive on Thursday. Noticeably colder air will arrive on Friday and even colder air will arrive over the weekend.
