Skies will partially clear overnight as temperatures drop into the 30s. Partly to mostly cloudy skies Sunday will ultimately give way to showers late in the day.
A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for parts of the Allegheny and Potomac Highlands and the Shenandoah Valley starting Sunday afternoon and extending into Monday. Mainly rain is expected for the immediate metropolitan area, with a wintry mix in the northern and western suburbs. Snow will be likely at higher elevations where the watch has been issued.
Warmer air works into the region Tuesday followed by a strong cold front.
