This evening at 7:19PM the sun set exactly in the west and tomorrow at 7:11AM the sun will rise exactly in the east. This happens at the spring and autumn equinox and tomorrow the Spring Equinox occurs at 7:02AM. This is a great GOES image from 22,000 miles above us and I've circled the glint/reflection of the sun on the Pacific Ocean. It is right at the equator today.
By the way don't think you can only balance a raw egg on the end on the equinox. An old tale and the laws of physics don't change on the equinox. But we will sure have more of a cold than "spring fever" pattern into the weekend and even early next week. Look at the long range temperature anomalies across the U.S. Courtesy of Weatherbell.com.
Unusual warmth over northeast Canada (even a record in Greenland) but a chilly pattern and possibly even one more chance of snow for snow lovers. Hartford, CT more snow today, now 60" while Washington is still only 1.7".
