A cold is passing through the D.C. area late this morning and will move offshore later today.  The rain will taper off midday and cooler, blustery conditions will arrive.  It will be the start of cooler weather that will last the better part of the rest of the week. The rain was heavy in Northern Virginia this morning. Here's a look at some rainfall totals as of 10:30 this morning.

Rainfall from last night through today

There is a chance of a few showers Wednesday afternoon, otherwise more stable weather with sunshine to end the week.  But, the weekend looking unsettled.
