Look for cloudy skies and scattered light rain for the rest of the day. Highs should top out in the upper 60. Heavier rain is likely tonight.

After being spectacularly sunny and mild, yesterday's bliss has been replaced with clouds, scattered light rain, and slightly cooler temperatures. Rain has been falling to the west of the DC metro area as a low pressure center to our southwest moves ever closer.
Shower activity is expected to increase overnight and Monday with significant amounts of rain possible, perhaps up to 3/4 of an inch. Monday will not only be notably wet, but also much cooler with highs rising to just the upper 50s to low 60s.
With an onshore flow for most of the week, an unsettled weather pattern is likely to be our lot through Friday. Daytime highs in the 60s and a chance of showers on most days will make for grayer and chillier end to April and beginning to May than we might want. Still, the silver lining is that after three consecutive drier than normal months, April is likely to be the first month this year to run a surplus, however slight. Enjoy your Sunday and the azaleas now in bloom!
