A Red Flag Warning is in effect for most of region today. This is issued when a combination of extremely dry air, gusty breezes, dry grass and brush (which have low fuel moisture) can lead to explosive fire growth. Several brush fires happened yesterday, including a two-alarm blaze in LaPlata, Maryland which took 150 firefighters to put out. Remember to extinguish cigarettes properly! (Learn more about red flag warnings in my latest blog here.)

Weather-wise, today will be much like yesterday with mostly sunny skies and cool breezes. Highs once again will peak near the low 50s. Overnight temperatures fall from the 40s at dusk to 30s and 20s overnight!  If you are headed to the National's game you will want to dress in red layers!

Milder air nudges in tomorrow with increasing afternoon clouds. Showers develop late Thursday into Friday with continued below average temperatures. However, a warming trend is in store for the weekend with highs back near 60° Saturday and pushing 70° into early next week. Have a great day!
