Sunshine and gusty southerly winds pushed temperatures to the 70 degree mark for the first time, in a long time, yesterday afternoon.
And today, temperatures will climb well past the 70 degree mark. So we will quickly transition from the feel of spring to the feel of summer in the air. In fact, high temperatures will be close to the 80 degree mark on Tuesday and could reach the lower 80s on Wednesday. Skies will be partly sunny today through most of the region but showers will be possible west of the Blue Ridge. Morning fog and sprinkles are expected tomorrow before the push of very warm air arrives. And with high pressure centered off-shore of the Carolina Coast, a brief period of early summer conditions are forecast until a cold front approaches later Thursday and Friday.
