No records today, but another warm on on tap for the D.C. area.

This Afternoon: Partly Cloudy

Highs: Low 80s | Wind: S 5

Tonight: Showers and Thunderstorms Late

Lows: Near 60 | Rain: 40%

Friday: Showers and Thunderstorms thorugh Midday

Highs: Mid 70s | Rain: 80%

After a HOT Wednesday afternoon with record temperatures, we will start a gradual trend downward today.  It will still be warm with highs in the lower 80s, but much cooler weather is expected by the weekend. High pressure over the Atlantic has been in charge of our weather all week and now a strong cold front that has been producing severe weather in the plains, will bring us some big changes.  Clouds will be moving in tonight with showers and thunderstorms developing after midnight. It will be a wet commute Friday morning.  Our Stormwatch7 Futurecast shows the wet weather on top of us at 7a.m. Friday.

Forecast Rain Friday Morning

A good 1/2" of rain is expected.  A few of the storms will bring gusty winds.  This could bring down a lot of petals on the cherry blossom trees. The showers and storms should end by midday Friday.  Cooler and breezy conditions then for the weekend behind that cold front.  Highs will return to seasonable temperatures in the mid 60s with sunshine.
