Much needed rain soaked the metro during the morning commute, but clearing out for the weekend.

This Afternoon: A few lingering showers early, then clearing skies

Highs: Mid to Upper 70s | Wind: SW 8-12

Tonight: Partly Cloudy

Lows: Low 50s | Wind: NW 5

Saturday: Mostly sunny and cooler

Highs: Mid 60s | Wind: WNW 5-15

A nice soaking for the morning commute as a strong cold front that has been wreaking havoc across the country finally made it's way here.  This is the same storm that brought snow to the Midwest, tornadoes to the deep south, and now spring rain and isolated thunderstorms here.  We NEEDED the rain.  As of 8:30 this morning here's a look at some unofficial totals.

Preliminary Rain Totals

Before the rain arrived, we had a deficit of an inch of rain for the month.  And, if we look back through January 1st, we are almost three inches shy in the average rain gauge.  The rain will also help bring the pollen count down, much to the relief of allergy suffers.  While the steady rain has ended, there is a chance of showers through about 1p.m. today.  Then clearing skies can be expected. Highs today will reach the mid 70s.  Sunshine and cooler temps for the weekend.  Highs will be in the mid 60s.  Our average high for April 12th is 66 degrees, so we will be back on pace. Enjoy the weekend!
