The cold front that has been marching across the country for the past few days is crossing the National Capital Area this morning. Heavy downpours with some lightning and thunder are accompanying the front as it continues toward the Atlantic Coast. Skies will clear this afternoon as high pressure begins to build back into the area. Cooler air will spread across the mid-Atlantic tonight. Temperatures will drop into the 40s with a few 50 degree lows inside the beltway.

The weekend will be fine...just cooler than what we experienced during the week. Skies will be partly cloudy tomorrow and it will be quite breezy. High temperatures will reach the middle 60s. On Sunday, the winds will diminish and under mostly sunny skies, temperatures will again reach the middle 60s.

Noticeably warmer air will return to the area on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
