This heat will hang around for the next few days but a cold front will get here by the weekend. Find out when the best chance for rain will be around the D.C. area.

High pressure is continuing to build across the western Atlantic. Known as a Bermuda High, it continues to push hot and humid air across our area. In fact, we expect this dynamic system to remain well-entrenched through early Sunday. That translates into a forecast of more hot and humid weather. We are calling for partly to mostly sunny, hot and humid conditions through Saturday. There will only be a very slight chance of isolated thunderstorms each day.

On Sunday, the Bermuda High is expected to weaken just enough to allow a cold front west of the Appalachians to begin moving eastward. This will bring in a bit more cloudiness on Sunday afternoon and set the stage for scattered showers and thunderstorms. The cold front is timed to move across our area on Tuesday. This will break the heat and provide better chances for more widespread showers and thunderstorms.
