Keep your eye to the sky and an umbrella handy today, more sun for Mother's Day.

This Afternoon: Showers and Thunderstorms

Highs: 75°-80° | Wind: Southwest 10-20 mph

Tonight: Gradual Clearing, Cool

Lows: 48°-56° | Wind: Northwest 5-10 mph

Sunday: Partly Sunny and Breezy

Highs: 65°-70° | Wind: Northwest 15-25 mph

A cold front will bring unsettled weather across the mid-Atlantic today with showers and numerous thunderstorms. Some storms will have to potential to become severe with heavy rain, frequent lightning and brief gusty winds. Highs this afternoon  will manage to rebound into the middle 70s to near 80 degrees.

Skies will gradually clear during the overnight hours and temperatures will drop into the 50s around the Beltway. Mother's Day promises to be cooler, filled with more sunshine and a bit breezy at times. Highs around 65 to 70 degrees.
