The gorgeous weekend weather has now given way to a cloudy and wet pattern that will last much of the rest of the week.  An area of low pressure over the Tennessee Valley is cut off from the jet stream. When that happens, there is really nothing to push the low out of the way, so it lingers and will keep us under its grip through Thursday.  So, get used to it.  The clouds arrived overnight and we have a little mist as well.  While a few showers will be possible today, the bulk of the accumulating rain comes tomorrow and Wednesday.  Check out the forecast rainfall totals between now and Wednesday morning.

Forecast Rainfall Totals through Wednesday Morning

By Thursday, we could see more than 2" in spots.  We are keep our eye out for the potential of flooding. Right now it appears we will stay just below the flood threshold this week.  And yes, we still could use the rain. The last few systems that came through the mid-atlantic brought more clouds than wet weather.  The rainfall deficit for the year is now approaching 3 inches.
