A beautiful May weekend, but enjoy it, with the weather pattern changing early next week.

Tonight: Mostly sunny becoming partly cloudy and chilly.

Lows: A few upper 30s well north and west of Washington, otherwise 40s | Wind: E 5-10 mph

Saturday: Areas of low cloudiness early, becoming partly cloudy.

Highs: Upper 60s | Wind: E 5-10 mph

Sunday: Partly to mostly sunny.

Highs: Upper 60s | Wind: E 5-10 mph

A strong and well established area of high pressure northeast of Washington continues its grip on our area. For the most part, it has been and will continue to be, a rather benign weather pattern.

Temperatures have been several degrees below average and will continue that way for a few more days. There have also been instances of decks of low clouds forming before sunrise and affecting large parts of the area. This could happen again on Saturday morning. Sunshine will be slow to develop in those areas but will be widespread the farther north and west you are from Washington. We are forecasting mostly sunny weather for Sunday. On Monday, an area of low pressure will be approaching from the south. This will lead to an unsettled weather pattern that will produce mostly cloudy skies with a daily chance of showers through Wednesday.
